Determining The Proper Scanning Resolution For EDGE Printing

Here is a quick formula to help determine the proper scanning resolution (DPI) for the Gerber EDGE or EDGE2:

Scanning Resolution = (LPI) x (2) X (Scale Factor)

LPI = Output Lines Per Inch

Scale Factor = The number of times the image is scaled up from the original artwork

Example:

Original Artwork Size = 3” x 5”

Output Size = 12” x 15”

Therefore Scale Factor = 4

Output LPI = 45 Lines Per Inch (for this example)

Scanning Resolution = 360 DPI = (45LPI) x (2) x (4 Scale Factor)
